Frequently Asked Questions
What machine is required for the PEANUT® 1?
A minimum of a 3-axis CNC machine. The PEANUT® 1 requires only 1 machining process.
What is the minimum panel size for the PEANUT® 1?
15.3mm and above.
How do you machine the PEANUT® 1 hole?
First, you need to machine a 5mm hole. Then, machine a 25mm hole. See PEANUT® 1 Technical Information for more details (IMPORTANT: 5mm hole must be machined first).
What's the recommending spacing between each component?
We recommend having a component every 200mm, however this can vary dependent on the application.
Should the PEANUT® 1 be on top of the panel or on the bottom of the panel?
The PEANUT® 1 should always be on the bottom of the panel for maximum strength.
Does the PEANUT® 1 require any glue or other components?
Glue can be used in the PEANUT® Slot to give a permanent fixing and to strengthen the joint.
Can the PEANUT® Jigs be used for the PEANUT® 1?
No. The PEANUT® Jigs are not compatible with the PEANUT® 1 component. We recommend using the PEANUT® 2 and PEANUT® 2 Short components with the PEANUT® Jigs.

How it Works
The PEANUT 1 connector is designed for manufacturers who have 3-axis+ CNC nesting machines.
Key Benefits

Design
The PEANUT 1 is made of a strong reinforced plastic and has rows of teeth around the body to provide high gripping strength when inserted.
Self-clamping, single component connector
Only one CNC machining process
Creates an incredibly strong joint
Quick and simple assembly
Ability to reassemble many times
Designed from glass fibre reinforced nylon
Tooling Requirements
The recess of the connector and the corresponding key hole are all machined on the face of the panel. As only face machining is required, manufacturers create all panels for furniture in one machining operation.
Once inserted, all panels made with PEANUT® components can be packed flat and depending on the tightness of the joint, can be assembled with no tools.
The body shape is designed for fast machining, requiring only a 25mm and 5mm drill bit to create the recess for the connector. Bevelled edges make aligning the PEANUT 1 easy and the small 5mm notch guides the component into the perfect position. The PEANUT 1 is available in 8 colours, enabling it to blend with many wood finishes.
The PEANUT® head has been specially designed to maximise ease of assembly and joint strength. Due to its dome shape, the PEANUT head smoothly slides along the slot created by the T-shaped PEANUT Cutter.
In assembly, the PEANUT head rides over the lip of the PEANUT slot and slides to the end, this action creates a strong clamping force, pulling the two panels together from the inside.
